Al Arabi coach Heimir Hallgrimsson spoke to the media ahead of their 2019-20 QNB Stars League Week 21 match against Al Sailiya.

“I am happy with what we have achieved with our players this season. Of course when you play with young players, they lack experience. But how do you get experience unless you play. So it is a double-edged sword and I think we have to be more happy because we now have a good number of young players who will have better experience after the season. I think this is necessary for us and for the future of this club, to have a sustainable system in which we can prepare players for the first team.

“These players will have a commitment with the club and a mentality of diligence in training, and they want to play for this club in the future. If you look at players like Jassim Jaber, Abdullah Al Sulaiti, Khalifa Al Maliki and Mahmoud Abunada, these are the players who will be playing for the club over the next 10 years, so we not only gained players for this season, we also gained them for the next decade.

“As far as the Al Sailiya match is concerned, we will keep pushing young players and give them chance to shine as well prove themselves.

“And about playing for the fifth place, I spoke to the players after our last game. I think we have to keep playing well, regardless of what happens on the field. We must focus on things that we can control and not on things we cannot control. We must stop feeling sorry for ourselves and keep working, trying to improve everything every day,” said Hallgrimsson.

Al Arabi player Ibrahim Nasser Kalla said, “We will try to prove ourselves and be responsible. We are able to finish the season in fifth place. By staying focused and if we implement the coach’s instructions on the field, we can win the remaining matches in the league. Young players got the chance to gain experience and that will have its advantages in the future.”
