Umm Salal drew 1-1 with Al Duhail, Qatar SC defeated Al Arabi 2-1 and Al Gharafa blanked Al Kharaitiyat 3-0 in the QSL Cup Round 3 Group A matches on Saturday.

Umm Salal 1 Al Duhail 1

The two teams in the day’s early fixture were forced to share the spoils after a tightly-fought game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Little was created for large stretches of the game. However, that changed in the 77th minute through Abdulla Kamal. The ball was thrown in from the right and a neat little interchange found its way to Yannick Sagbo whose inviting pass was beautifully swept into the corner by Kamal.

Al Duhail were not willing to allow that goal to get to them and were back in the game in the 85th minute, thanks to star man Yousef El Arabi. The ball was cut back to him from the touchline on the left and he was able to neatly finish with his second attempt to ensure the game finished all square.

Al Arabi 1 Qatar SC 2

Qatar SC put up a strong performance against Al Arabi as they came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory and all three points.

A slow match came to action with the clock on 45+2 when Gaser Zakaria latched on to a through ball and slotted home from close range.

The lead was immediately lost after the restart as Ali Jasemi made a 47th-minute breakthrough. Picking up the ball 30 yards out, he advanced a little before striking an unstoppable shot deep into the far right corner which was undoubtedly the goal of the night.

The away side was able to complete the turnaround in the 78th minute as Eisa Palangi followed a lovely lofted pass from the right to blindly volley home from a tight angle.

Al Gharafa 3 Al Kharaitiyat 0

Al Gharafa ran out comfortable 3-0 winners, thanks to a dominant performance from their forward players.

They opened the scoring in the 50th minute when Othman Al Yahri’s defence-splitting through ball found Moayad Hassan, who struck his shot inside the far post.

The lead was doubled in the 74th as Muath Al Salemi surged the length of the opposition half before releasing a perfectly-timed pass for captain Wesley Sneijder to stroke home with the outside of his right boot.

Deep into stoppage time, Moayad was able to grab his second of the night when he reacted quickest to a rebound from a Sneijder pass to put the icing on the cake of a superb team performance.
