A keen contest is on cards when Al Sailiya take on Al Arabi in Week 18 of the QNB Stars League on Friday, 1st March. The kick-off is at 16:50 at the Al Ahli Stadium.

Al Sailiya had slipped from the third to fifth position in the standings after Week 16 action when they lost 0-1 to reigning champions Al Duhail, but they bounced back in style by beating Al Ahli 1-0 in Week 17 to regain the third position.

Al Sailiya have 31 points (10 victories, one draw and six defeats). Their goal difference is +11 (28 goals for and 17 against).

The Peregrines have the services of players such as Saoud Al Khater, Hamad Al Obaidi, Mauricio Junior, Abdulrahman Mohammed, Nadir Belhadj, Abdulkadir Ilyas, Rashid Tiberkanine, Fahd Yousef and Ghanem Al Qahtani.

Al Sailiya are fully aware that they need to score as many victories as possible in order to finish the competition in the top-four bracket that will earn them a berth in the Qatar Cup.

Al Rayyan are fourth with 30 points and Al Ahli are close behind with 29 points.

Al Arabi, who beat promoted side Al Shahania 2-1 in Week 17, are occupying the sixth position with 24 points (eight wins and nine defeats). Their goal difference is -11 (20 goals for and 31 against).

Al Arabi bolstered their ranks during the winter transfer period by adding Morteza Pouraliganji, Ibrahim Majed, Hashim Ali, Jasser Yahya, Fahd Khalfan and Wilfried Bonnie.
