Al Kharaitiyat will be fighting with their back to the wall when they face Umm Salal in Week 17 of the QNB Stars League on Friday, 22nd February. The kick-off is at 19:10 at the Al Duhail Stadium.

The match is important for both teams as Al Kharaitiyat are facing relegation threat more than ever since the start of this season. For Umm Salal, three points will help their cause of finishing among the top four in a big way.

The Orange Fortress lost out on finishing in the elite top-four bracket, which will give a berth in the Qatar Cup as a bonus other than prospects of playing in the AFC Champions League, in the last round last season. They were pipped to the post by Al Gharafa.

Umm Salal announced their intentions when action resumed in the QNB Stars League after a long break by defeating Al Gharafa 2-1 last week.

Spanish coach Raul Caneda can take a share of the credit for bringing the team back on the winning path on his debut in Qatar. And his wards will be highly motivated against Al Kharaitiyat and that will make the proceedings tough for the latter.

Al Kharaitiyat lost 1-2 to Al Ahli to put themselves more in a spot.

Umm Salal are seventh in the table with 20 points (five wins, as many draws and six defeats). Their goal difference is -9 (19 goals for and 28 against).

Al Kharaitiyat are last with only one victory to show for their efforts. Their goal difference is -38 (11 goals for and 49 against).
