Al Ahli twice came from behind to play out a thrilling 2-2 draw with Qatar SC in Week 17 of the 2019-20 QNB Stars League at the Qatar SC Stadium on Friday.

Kayke Rodriguez (41st and 79th minutes) scored Qatar SC’s both goals, while Hernan Perez (65th) and Nabil El Zhar (85th-minute penalty) were Al Ahli’s scorers.

Al Ahli and Qatar SC now have 19 and 17 points respectively.

It was a much-improved performance by Qatar SC, who had lost to Al Ahli by a 0-2 margin in the first leg of 2019-20 QNB Stars League.

However, Qatar SC, under former Qatar international Wesam Rizik, have yet to win a game in the tournament’s second leg. The Kings drew goalless with Al Gharafa, Al Wakrah and Al Duhail, and lost the other matches 0-1 to Al Sailiya and 0-2 to Al Khor.

On the other hand, Al Ahli, coached by Nebojsa Jovovic, had enjoyed a three-match unbeaten run until they lost 0-1 to Al Rayyan in Week 16.

Coming into the game, The Brigadiers did well to bounce back efficiently and had 53 per cent possession.

Captain Nabil, Hernan and Abel Mathias led Al Ahli’s charge.

In contrast, Qatar SC rode mainly on the individual brilliance of Kayke. with support from Sardor Rashidov and Eisa Ahmed in the attack.

Kayke’s first goal was a neat finish after he latched on to a long through pass from deep in their own half. The Brazilian forward found his second with the help of a cross from Eisa.

Al Ahli first equalised through Hernan, with Abel setting the stage for his left-footer.

El Zhar then converted from the spot after the penalty was awarded when Eisa tripped the former.
