QNB Stars League Week 15 Review

The QNB Stars League Week 15 saw some thrilling contests and interesting results. The matches were played on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 20th, 21st and 22rd February, 2020.

It is interesting to note that four games ended in draws, while two matches produced results by narrow margins.

Results of Week 15 are:

Al Shahania drew Al Arabi 0-0

Al Ahli drew Al Gharafa 1-1

Al Khor drew Al Rayyan 1-1

Al Sailiya beat Qatar SC 1-0

Umm Salal drew Al Sadd 2-2

Al Duhail beat Al Wakrah 1-0

Al Duhail and Al Sailiya were the only teams to register victories, against Al Wakrah (1-0) and Qatar SC (1-0) respectively.

Al Duhail increased their lead on top with 36 points, four more than second-placed Al Rayyan and five more than reigning champions Al Sadd.

The standings remained unchanged except for one position. Al Sailiya displaced Al Wakrah from the sixth position with 20 points following their victory.

Han Kwang-Song netted the all-important goal for Al Duhail, while Al Sailiyta were helped by an own goal by Elmehdi Barrahma, who accidentally nodded the ball into his own net as he attempted to clear it.

Al Sadd dropped two crucial points after they were held 2-2 by Umm Salal. Ayoub Azizi and Mahmoud Al Mawas scored for Umm Salal, while Al Sadd came back into the game through Marco Fabian and Nam Tae-Hee.

Al Khor did well to hold Al Rayyan 1-1. Tiago Bezerra scored for Al Khor, whereas Yohan Boli netted Al Rayyan’s goal.

Ahmed Alaaeldin and Shane Lowry scored for Al Gharafa and Al Ahli respectively in their 1-1 draw.
