Leaders Al Duhail rode on a first-half strike by Yousef El Arabi to beat Al Khor 1-0 in Week 13 of the QNB Stars League on Saturday.

El Arabi converted a penalty in the 35th minute to help Nabil Maaloul’s side pick up three points.

In just the fifth minute of the match played at the Al Khor Stadium, referee Abdulrahman Al Jassim penalised Luiz Martin with a yellow card for a rough tackle.

After neither side managed to get the break, high-scoring striker El Arabi broke the deadlock by easily sending the ball home from the spot.

El Arabi was brought down by Khaled Radwan inside the Al Khor box and the referee promptly pointed to the spot.

It was the Moroccan’s 15th goal in this season’s QNB Stars League.

Al Duhail’s Under-23 player Abdullah Al Ahrak wasted a golden opportunity to score from close range seven minutes into the second half.

Luiz Martin fired a long-range shot in the 60th minute, but the ball slipped past the goalpost without causing any damage to Al Khor.

Almoez Ali fired a bullet towards the Al Khor goal, but goalkeeper Mohammed Al Bakri punched the shot away with a quick move.

Luis Martin once again went for a long-range, left-footed shot that narrowly sailed above the Al Khor crossbar in the 84th minute.

After a few quick exchanges, Al Duhail held on to their slender lead to post another win.
