18:15 kick-off at Al Gharafa Stadium

Al Sailiya face Al Rayyan in Week 1 of the 2020-21 season QNB Stars League. The kick-off is at 18:15 at the Al Gharafa Stadium on Thursday, 3rd September, 2020.

Al Sailiya could only finish in the fifth position last season, a below-par performance compared to their third-place finish in the 2018-19 season, which was their best-ever in history.

The Peregrines, under the tutelage of Sami Trabelsi, are a determined lot this time around. As a result, there are many new faces in their squad and the Tunisian coach already said ahead of the start of the season that they were competing for top positions, if not for the title, this season.

Al Rayyan had finished runners-up and even outplayed Al Sadd who could end up third in the 2019-20 QNB Stars League. The Lions, coached by Uruguayan Diego Aguirre, lagged behind champions Al Duhail (52 points) only by one point in the final standings.

Al Rayyan had two honours in the annual QFA Awards announced recently. Aguirre was adjudged the Best Coach, while Algerian attacking midfielder Yacine Brahimi shared the Mansour Muftah Award for Top Scorer with Al Sadd’s Akram Afif. They both scored 15 goals in the league.

Al Rayyan will once again be strong contenders for the title.
