Qatar SC’s Syrian striker Osama Omari sustained a cruciate ligament injury during his country’s Group B first-round match against Palestine at the ongoing Asian Cup in the UAE.

Osama was injured in the first half of the game, which ended in a goalless draw, and had to be taken off the field.

Qatar SC said the player would be treated and operated on at Qatar’s orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital Aspetar.

Osama has been a key player in the Qatar SC ranks after joining them in the winter transfer period last season. And his contract was renewed ahead of this season.

Meanwhile, Qatar SC are preparing to face Al Duhail in the fifth round of QSL Cup on 10th January. The Kings had qualified for the quarterfinals along with Al Duhail and Al Gharafa, all with eight points.

Umm Salal are in fourth place with five points, followed by Al Kharaitiyat (three points).

The fight for the fourth spot from the group is between Umm Salal and Al Kharaitiyat, while Al Arabi are out of contention for quarterfinal qualification without even a single point so far.
