Gabi: The game against Al-Rayyan is very important, we can’t afford to lose any points

Al-Sadd captain Gabi Fernandez stressed on the importance of the upcoming clash against Al-Rayyan, adding that there is no room for losing any more points.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Gabi said: “It is an important match and winning it will put us in second place. We have no room for losing any points, the ball is still in the field; everything now will depend on the results of the leaders and what we offer on the field.”

The Spanish midfielder added: “We have presented a special season so far and we have won two titles – the Super Cup and the Qatar Cup. Yes, the league has become complicated, but it is not impossible, and the Amir Cup is also still available.”

Regarding the criticism leveled against him from the fans, Gabi said: My season with Al-Sadd has been very good and the fans have the right to criticize, but I always strive to provide my best and I try to be a leader of the team inside and outside the pitch. I always evaluate my work in terms of titles and this is what the team has achieved so far.”
