Al-Sadd’s Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah emphasised the importance of his side’s 1-0 win over Persepolis in the AFC Champions League on Tuesday night, describing it as a tough game.
Speaking after scoring the only goal of the match in the last minute, Bounedjah said: “It was a really tough game against a team that reached the final of the last edition. The Al-Sadd players had the capability to focus until the last minute, when we succeeded in scoring the winner.”
The man of the match added: “The winning goal came after a lot of effort. The team suffered from incorrect refereeing decisions, especially the denial of two penalties for Al-Sadd.”
Finally, Bounedjah said: “It is my duty to score in every game and help my team to win; I always strive to do that.”
