The Al-Sadd football first team held their main training session from 6 PM onwards on Sunday to prepare for the upcoming 2019 AFC Champions League clash against Persepolis.

The Matchday 2 fixture from Group D is set to be played on Tuesday at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 6:45 PM.

Al-Sadd will go into the game without any points after having lost the opening game 2-0 to Al-Ahli on Matchday 1 in Jeddah. As for Persepolis, they have one point after a 1-1 draw with Pakhtakor.

The Wolves will hope to get their first three points in the bag in front of home fans.

Sunday’s training session saw the first team work intensely under the supervision of the coaching staff, led by head coach Jesualdo Ferreira. The coaches worked on selecting their ideal lineup for the game and focused on specialized training exercises.

The management of the club was keen to show their support to the players, with head of football Mohammed Ghanem Al-Ali attending the session.

At the start of the session, the coaching staff held a meeting with the players to discuss the objectives from the game and the necessary technical issues to focus on.

Goalkeeping coach Eduardo Perez worked on training the three goalkeepers (Saad Al-Dosari, Meshaal Barsham, Jehad Mohammed) on their movement and reactions.

Meanwhile, Xavi and Khoukhi Boualem both trained hard after completing their return from injury. Both players had missed the last game against Al-Ahli.

The session was held amidst significant media presence, as journalists from Al Kass, BeIN Sports, Qatar TV, Al Rayyan TV, Sout Al Khaleej radio and print media attended the session to cover the team’s preparations.

The pre-match press conference will be held from 11 AM onwards on Monday at the Al-Sadd conference hall while the match coordination meeting is set to be held from 10 AM in the grand hall.
