Al Kharaitiyat will take on Al Duhail in the final of QSL Cup.

In the semifinals played at the Al Duhail Stadium on Saturday, Al Kharaitiyat defeated Al Gharafa 4-1, while Al Duhail blanked Qatar SC 4-0.

The final will kick off at the Al Duhail Stadium on Thursday, 31st January, at 19:00.

It was a repeat of the group-stage clash in Round 3 when Al Gharafa defeated Al Kharaitiyat 3-0.

However, Al Kharaitiyat had a sweet revenge this time around. They took a surprise lead in the 17th minute through Romanian winger Valentin Lazar, who converted a penalty past the outstretched hands of goalkeeper Qasim Burhan. The penalty was awarded after he was felled inside the box by Al Gharafa’s Mostafa Kadira.

Al Gharafa, who dominated possession in the first half (63 per cent), had earned a free-kick as early as the fourth minute, but Vladimir Weiss sent it straight to rival goalkeeper Mustafa Abdulkardeen.

After Al Kharaitiyat’s Majid Salmeen and Abdulhadi Amin made attempts at the Al Gharafa goal, The Cheetahs drew level in the 39th minute through Amro Seraj, who latched on to a through ball before unleashing an angular shot past goalkeeper Abdulkardeen. 

Al Kharaitiyat put up an improved show in the second half and were rewarded for their persistent efforts in the 72nd minute when Valentin found the mark one more time with a long-range rebound after Abdulaziz Al Ansari’s shot hit Al Gharafa’s Yousef Muftah on the back of his head.

Substitute Mohammed Razzaq completed the tally by scoring in the 84th and 89th minutes. Valentin gave the assist for his first goal, while Mohammed Abdulrab set him up for the second.

Qatar SC 0 Al Duhail 4

Al Duhail eased past Qatar SC 4-0 in the second semifinal to reach the QSL Cup final.

Striker Ali Said Al Mohannadi of Qatar SC broke free of his marker, but his left-footed drive was blocked by Al Duhail keeper Khalifa Aboobacker in just the third minute.

In the 11th minute, Al Duhail, coached by Madjid Bougherra, jumped to a 1-0 lead when Paulo Edmilson found the net from close range.

Feared striker Yousef El Arabi made it 2-0 in the 23rd minute as Al Duhail started completely asserting themselves on their home soil.

A minute later, Edmilson beat his marker with quick pace, but his drive past Qatar SC keeper Rajab Hamza narrowly missed the target.  

A minute before the half-hour mark, Ahmed Abdulqader fooled Qatar SC keeper into diving to his left, but shot the ball past his right shoulder from inside the box for Al Duhail’s third goal.

In the second half of the one-sided clash, Edmilson scored his second goal when he hoodwinked marker Mohammed Salem and then curled in a well-taken right-footed drive past keeper Hamza.

In the dying seconds, Ali Said had only the Al Duhail keeper to beat, but he could not finish the move from close range.
