An astonishing early goal by Paulinho just 14 seconds in set the Dream Team on their way to memorable victory over Qatar Sports Cub (away). The home side were only one goal down but a second yellow for Hussein just before the break meant that Qatar SC were in for a long night. In the second half the absence of the 11th man for Qatar proved to much as they succumbed to yet another defeat this season.

The first goal of the night came straight from the kick off when a hopeful ball was won by Paulinho who then continued his run, Yousef Ahmed put a great through ball for the Brazilian who rounded the keeper and opened the scoring for Arabi (14 seconds).

After this early goal, all the pressure was coming from QSC who pinned in the visitors with wave after wave of attack.

The key moment in the match was the sending off of Hussein for a second bookable offense (45+1’), after the restart and with only ten men to call upon, the complexion of the game changed as Arabi grew in confidence and chances.

It took only 6 minutes after the restart for the one man advantage to tell as Arabi left back Mohammed Musab banged in a header from a diagonal cross courtesy of winger Ashkan.

It was looking increasing difficult for the home side after the second goal and the killer blow came in the 75th minute a cleverly worked one-two between Arabi’s Dutra and Paulinho set free the former who found the bottom right corner with a well-placed shot.

The final goal was a comedy of errors for the QSC defence as the ball was deflected high into the air; Paulinho latched onto it and was then tackled by Ali Shaheen who frustratingly pushed the ball into the path of new signing Rod Fanni who finished well for Al Arabi (78’).

What a difference a season can make, last year Qatar Sports Club were fighting for a top 3 finish and Head Coach Radhi Shenaishil will be a worried man going into Round 4 of the Qatar Stars League.

As for Al Arabi, they looked a bit shaky in Rounds 1 & 2 but still managed to win, if they can continue to grind out results they may grow in confidence and potentially have a good season.
