Al Duhail’s Under-23 coach Madjid Bougherra spoke to the media ahead of their QSL Cup final against Al Gharafa, to be played on Thursday, 31st January.

“This cup is important for both me and the players. This is my first final as in charge of Al Duhail’s Under-23 team. And then, most of these young players were playing in this tournament right from the beginning. They deserve the title.

“We’re ready for the final. We’ve made special preparations. Let’s see how things turn out on the field,” said Bougherra.

Al Gharafa reached the final at the expense of Al Kharaitiyat who defeated the former in the semifinal. However, that result was overturned by the Qatar Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee after Al Gharafa protested that Al Kharaitiyat violated the rule of resident players and fielded six of them in the match in place of a maximum five.

“There isn’t much difference between Al Gharafa and Al Kharaitiyat. We had played against both of them in the group stage.

“You can’t predict the result in a final. It’s always a special occasion. You have to be prepared for it.

“Al Gharafa coach Christian Gourcuff had coached me when I was playing for the Algerian national team. The team with more desire will win the match.

“There’re many possibilities in Qatar. Our first team is always in focus, so we want our young players to hog the limelight this time. We’ll decide on our startlist only after a final team meeting,” Bougherra added.
